A funeral service will be held in Taylor. For further details, call Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor at (928) 536-4045. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ April 30, 2007 Stillman "Art" Saunders was born on Jan. 18, 1921, in Glendale and passed away April 25, 2007, in Tucson. Art married the love of his life, Berniece, on June 19, 1962, and were happily married for almost 45 years. Art was in the Army and served in WWII and also in Japan. He was a technician fourth grade and separated from the Army Dec. 7, 1946. Art studied many things in college, among them Spanish, welding, upholstery, oil painting and drawing. Welding remained his avid hobby along with flying. Art was involved with many religious activities including acting as chief pilot for Gospel Wings for six years and with the Mobile Missionary Assistant Program for nine years. Art is survived by his wife, Berniece, sons David (Vickie) of Peoria and David Zumwalt of Eloy; daughters Gloria Heston of Simi Valley, Calif., Joyce Parish of Gentry, Ark., and Carolyn Gruelign of Paulden; sister Nadine Brown of Peoria; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor. Interment was at Taylor Cemetery. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled the arrangements.
