John A. Mouser died March 31, 2007, in McAllen, Texas.
He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Augusta, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II and graduate of Texas A&M University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as missionary to the White Mountain Apache Tribe in Whiteriver from 1956-1990, retiring in 1990, but continued to assist the Apache people whom he considered his family and home.
He was survived by his wife, Pauline Mouser; three sons David of McAllen, Texas, Paul (Jackie) of Whiteriver, Barney of Hon-Dah, two daughters, Nancy Kessay of Gilbert, Cecilia Lavender (Michael) of Whiteriver, Bernadine Ethelbah of Whiteriver, 28 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie G. (Hughes) Mouser; sister Elizabeth A. Grant; grandchild baby girl Mouser; and great-grandchild Isaiah Skidmore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the White Mountain Apache Baptist Church Friday, April 6.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
