Sonya Patricia Pettyjohn, 74, of Henderson, Nevada died April 8, 2007, after a lengthy battle with diabetes.
She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sonya was an extremely loving and caring person to all. Her family meant everything to her. She had 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of which were the joy of her life.
In return Sonya was loved totally and completely by her husband, children and grandchildren, along with all others who met and knew her. The passing of Sonya will create a huge void in the lives of the Pettyjohn family. However, this void will be partially filled by the great love shown by family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, J. Coy Pettyjohn; daughters Patty Lattuga and Pamela Gardineer, both of Henderson, Nev.; her son, Jerry Pettyjohn, also of Henderson; and her son, Jamie Pettyjohn of Jupiter, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Frazer of San Antonio, Texas; and her son, Jimmy C. Pettyjohn of Las Vegas.
A viewing was held at Palm Mortuary, 7600 Eastern Ave., Thursday, April 12, with funeral services at the LDS Green Valley Stake Center located on Valle Verde Dr. and Warm Springs Rd. Friday, April 13, at 10 a.m.
Grave side services will follow at Palm Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
