Gloria Palos Flores, 63, of Kearny, lost her battle with cancer, Oct. 4, 2010.
She was born July 29, 1947 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. She is the daughter of the late Alfonso Palos and Francisca Munoz. She lived her early years in Aguascalientes, and made her home in Kearny after she married Emilio “Charras” Flores in November 27, 1972. She worked as a bus driver at Ray High School in Kearny, for many years.
In 2002, her battle with cancer started.
Before falling ill, she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes and cookies, crocheting, listening to music, singing and dancing. Her nickname, growing up, was “Glorietta la Coqueta” because she had a coquettish charm. In her early years, she was a fashion designer, runway model, pageant queen and was frequently chosen to lead rallies and parades for various sports teams in her hometown. She was loved by her family and friends, and was like a mother to her younger siblings.
Gloria leaves behind son Albert Flores, of Surprise; daughter, Erika Flores, of Texas; mother, Francisca Munoz of Aguascalientes; three brothers; eight sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 9. She was remembered with a Rosary and Mass at the Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny, and she was buried next to her late husband, Emilio “Charras” Flores at the Kearny Memorial cemetery.
The family was assisted by Griffith Mortuary.
