Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery, Tucson, Arizona ~ August 15th 2010 Dorothy Charowhas, born in Nogales, AZ, August 21, 1920, passed away peacefully, July 5, 2010 after a long battle with dementia. She is now safe, and out of physical and mental pain. Preceded in death by nieces Christine & Darlene, mother, Florence, sister, Edythe, brother, Bud, son, Louis, husband, Peter, and son-in-law, Bill. She is survived by daughter, Cathy Welsh, nieces, Debra Anthony (Dennis), Joanna Holder (Herb), and nephews, Bill Charowhas (Diane), & Stuart and Nick Woolfield. Dorothy worked for TUSD as a secretary. She was an active member for many years in La Sertoma, Sertoma The Elks, and The Women's Club. Dorothy had 2 lifelong passions, one for dancing, the other for rescuing, defending, and adopting cats and dogs. Dancing was the catalyst for meeting her husband, Pete, who was the love of her life. Dorothy continued with her dancing in her later years in a tap dance group at The Women's Club. I wish to thank all the volunteers, caregivers, nurses, staff, and doctors at Orange Grove Family Practice, especially Dr. Judith Brown, Crossroads lll, Northwest Hospital, and Odyssey Hospice. Dorothy was the kindest, most loving, and most giving person, friend, aunt, mother, and wife. Anyone who crossed her path in life is the better for it. Dorothy was a beautiful woman, inside and out. I was so blessed to have had my wonderful, devoted mother for so many years, and life without her is overwhelming. I do know, that although she will be missed by so many people, she is at peace, looking down on me every day. She has been reunited with her family, friends, and the many dogs and cats that she so loved. An open house celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on her 90th birthday, August 21, from 4 to 7 PM.
