CALLOWAY, Willard Milton (Pete)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ March 12, 2007 Willard Milton "Pete" Calloway, 86, died March 8, 2007, at the Friendship House in Eagar. Pete was born Nov. 26, 1920, to I.E. and Alice Calloway in Mason, Texas. At an early age Pete moved to Cliff, N.M., where he was raised and attended school. Pete was a veteran of World War II serving with the 306th Airdrome Squadron in the South Pacific Theater. He held the rank of mess sargeant. After Pete returned home to work as a cowman, he became ranch manager of the Bar Flying V Ranch where he worked for 36 years and raised his family. He was active in the VFW and 4-H as a leader. He enjoyed roping, cooking, rodeos and being involved in the cattle business. Pete is survived by his wife of 57 years, Adell of Springerville; son Kenneth of Payson; daughters Nancy (Bill) Cloudt of Rodeo, N.M., Barbara (Bruce) Walker, Long Beach, Miss., Donna (George) Geisler of Springerville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard and Alton; sister Marie Rogers; granddaughter Alma Cloudt,; and great-granddaughter Dovie Plumb. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, at 9 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Springerville. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10 a.m. also at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Springerville. Interment will be held at the Geisler Ranch Cemetery, N. M. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements
