MASTERSON, Dawna Margaret

Dawna Margaret Masterson, 56, died in her home on January 2, 2004, with her life partner Judy at her side. Dawna was born in Maine and moved to Phoenix with her family in 1961. She leaves behind her parents, Joseph and Alberta Masterson, four brothers, Albert, Joe, Murray and John and one sister, Cindy. Her youngest brother Max died in 1995. Dawna shared 28 loving years with Judy Poel and together they were parents to several cats. She had many dear friends who she loved and who loved her. Dawna loved life and always wanted to have fun with friends and the people she cared about. Even though Dawna had many health issues she embraced her challenges and she didn't let pain or illness get in the way of enjoying the pleasure of living. She worked as an Accounting Manager for Safeway, Inc. for the past 7 years. The love and support she has received from Safeway friends and staff has been enormous. Dawna's sense of humor and gentleness will be missed by everyone. A celebration of her full life will be held at her home on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004. Dawna wanted everyone to "have a party in the yard." Hospice of the Valley, particularly Ginger and Judi, provided tremendous care and support to Dawna. In honor of Dawna, please make a donation in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, Az., 85014. Published in the Arizona Republic on 1/6/2004.
