The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, October 20, 2010 George Champie Douglas passed away Saturday Oct. 2 surrounded by family in Reno, Nev. George was born June 30, 1919, in Mayer, Ariz., to two Arizona pioneers, Annie Lee Champie and Clyde Douglas. George had an adventurous and exciting life. He began his career as a cattle rancher and then joined the Army Air Corp as a pilot. He worked as a steamboat captain, a farmer, a real estate agent, and (most of all) loved meeting and visiting with people. George loved automobile travel, especially to his beloved Mexico where he had a cattle ranch. George never lost his passion for each new adventure, always living life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Ana Douglas and children Donald, Lee, Sue, Denise, Margot, George Jr., Champie, and Omar. He also has numerous grandchildren whom he was very proud of and who gave him great joy. Join us to help celebrate the amazing life of this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Elk’s Lodge in Wickenburg at noon on Saturday (Oct. 23). Private burial will be at the historic Champie family cemetery near Castle Hot Springs, Ariz.
