WAKEFIELD, Phillip Eugene


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 16, 2007 Phillip Eugene Wakefield, 48, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 in Mesa. He was born to Richard and Joann Wakefield Dec. 27, 1958 in Mesa. He was the youngest of four children. Phil grew up in the Mesa and Gilbert area. He graduated from Gilbert High School in 1976 where he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and football. In 1979 Phil moved to the White Mountains and worked for Jim Hicks Company installing Manufactured Homes. He met and fell in love with Kim whom he married Oct. 31, 1981. Phil was involved in Volleyball and Slow Pitch Softball for most of his life. In 1995 Phil and Kim joined the First Baptist Church where Phil found his passion for the Lord. He became a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for the children in grades three through six. He enjoyed working for the Lord in ministry and helped out in a lot of areas, he had a great desire to tell others what his Lord Jesus had done for him and what Jesus could do for them. In 1991 he started his own manufactured home setup company, Mountain Man Mobile Home Setup and Construction. His business prospered and grew. Phil's greatest joys were his son Jonathan and his grandson Ricky and the many kids he taught and loved in his family and church. On February 9, 2007 Phil was released from the hold of cancer and joyfully joined his Heavenly Father and the family that preceded him to Heaven. He is renewed and whole in his Heavenly Home. There are many who are going to miss him. Phillip is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kim; his son, Jonathan; daughter, Racquel; grandson, Ricky; his mother and Father Richard and Joann Wakefield; sisters, Connie Cobb and Sheryl Fletcher; 12 nephews and nieces, one grand nephew and one grand niece; four brothers and sisters in laws. Also many many friends who have prayed and encouraged him along his life's journey. Phil wanted everyone to know that there is an eternal hope and a promise and it lies in the belief that Jesus Christ is our one and only Savior, without him we are nothing but with him we are victorious over the grave. Phil rest in our Heavenly Father's arms and praise him. Funeral Services were held Feb. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Show Low.
