BOYD, Richard Leon


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 22, 2010 Richard Leon Boyd, 93, passed away Oct. 14, 2010, in Snowflake. He was born June 23, 1917, in a log cabin in Wise County, Texas to Richard D. and Robbie Beall Boyd. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1940-44. He was stationed in England and flew missions over Europe during WWII. Leon drove bus in the Los Angeles area for 30 years and retired in 1980, when he moved to Show Low with his wife, Ruth. He always said he wanted to be retired as long as he had worked, and he did it. He enjoyed traveling Arizona, taking and developing photographs, and a good game of dominoes. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth, of Show Low, daughter Louise (Eric) of Show Low; son Aaron (Gaylene) of Snowflake; nine grandchildren: Elise, Stephen, Nicole, Shawn, Melissa, Rebecca, David, Kira, Logan and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William Josephus Stephens Boyd, Raymond G. Boyd and sister Della Faye Boyd Howell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Show Low.
