SONIVE, Solomon, Jr.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 22, 2010 Solomon Sonive Jr., 70, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at his home in Alpine. He was born Oct. 23, 1939, in Safford to Solomon Sonive Sr. and Maclovia Campos Sonive. Solomon served in the Army National Guard from 1956-63. He was a chemist for Inspiration Copper Company and owned Alpine Market until retiring in 1996. Sol loved working with kids. He coached little league and intramural basketball in Safford and football, basketball and softball at Alpine School for many years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sonive of Alpine; son Dirk (Whitney) Sonive of Roswell, N.M.; daughter Sonya (Eddie) Moya of Safford; brothers Tony Sonive and Fred Sonive; sister Lupe Cleland of Safford; and six grandchildren. Sol was preceded in death by his parents. A viewing was held Oct. 21, at The Community Presbyterian Church in Alpine.
