THORNTON, Richard Dorian (Attitude)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 16, 2007 Richard Dorian "Attitude" Thornton, Sr., 59, of Show Low died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007. Richard was born Oct. 27, 1947, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Tom and Ruth (Smith) Thornton. He was raised and attended school in Morristown, N.J. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Korea. He married Chong Hae Kim May 10, 1973 in Seoul, Korea. He returned to the United States in 1973 and was stationed in New Jersey and Colorado prior to his discharge. He came to Arizona in 1980, settling in Show Low, later moved to Tucson and back to Show Low in 1991. He spent his work career in the construction industry. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Show Low Post 9907, and the American Legion of the White Mountains, Post 76. Richard is survived by his wife, Chong Hae, of the home; daughter, Sandra Thornton of Show Low; son, Richard (Nicole) Thornton, Jr. of Chandler; sister, Candice Trosko of Congress; five grandchildren, Laonnie, Patrick, Grace, Olivia and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a twin brother, David. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16 at Show Low Cemetery.
