LEE, Nedra

(Maiden Name: Turley)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 23, 2007 Nedra Turley Lee, 88, of St. Johns died Feb. 20, 2007. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Downtown LDS Chapel in St. Johns. Nedra Turley was born Sept. 22, 1918, to Hyrum Turley and Pearl Sevey in Woodruff. She loved this little community that afforded lots of time and space to play and grow under the shadows of "The Butte." She was one of 12 children and like most families of her day, she learned how to work, making cheese, milking the cow, planting and harvesting a garden, cooking and mending clothes, all under the guiding hand of her mother and father. She met and married Otto Lee of St. Johns while she attended high school and washed and kept house for her father and brothers who were building houses in St. Johns. Otto was the star of the basketball team, and they fell madly in love. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple shortly after graduating from high school. She will truly be missed! Nedra was preceded in death by her husband; oldest son, Jerold Otto Lee, who died as an infant; her parents; and all but one of her brothers and sisters. Before her passing she expressed a desire to "see them again." Nedra was a deeply religious person and taught her children to love and serve God and live by the golden rule. She is survived by her children, Marva Jackson of Queen Creek, David Lee of Mesa, Vance Lee of Tempe, Tina Pullins of St. Johns, Rhonda Martineau of St. Johns, Deborah Sue Lee of Phoenix, Richard Lee of Gilbert, and Kevin Lee of St. Johns. Burnham Mortuary, St. Johns, handled arrangements.
