WALTER,
Charles S.
In Loving Memory of Colonel Charles S. Walter. 12/18/1908-01/06/2003 At age 94, he passed away at his home peacefully, comfortably and with dignity with his long time best friend Alan Driscoll.
Colonel Walter was pain free thanks to the friendly caring help of Odyssey Healthcare Inc. and their staff. Charles and Alan had a 20 year friendship, shared several homes and Charles taught Alan how to cook among many things.
Charles spent 33 years in the Army starting at the bottom and worked very hard to become Lt. Col. He had 11 brothers and sisters and grew up very poor on a farm back east.
During his final days he required my devoting, much of my time and life as his caregiver. He maintained his dignity and fully cooperated with me in my efforts. He never complained, was always patient, grateful, and forever optimistic. He was an inspiration; he was never a burden, ever. I will forever be thankful to have had him such a major part of my life. Our friendship, and all his family and friends, was truly one of God's perfect gifts. I thank him for this gift each and everyday. Charles will be missed, but never forgotten. We all miss you very much Charles and we all love you very much, you will never be forgotten. Love, Alan, your family and friends from all over the world.
