MARTIN, Eugene Todd

Todd Martin (October 12, 1932-October 23, 2010) Eugene Todd Martin of Prescott, Ariz., died Oct. 23, 2010, at Shiloh Adult Home surrounded by his loving family. Todd was born on Oct. 12, 1932, in Rapid City, S.D., the son of Eugene and Lydia Martin. He graduated from South Dakota State College (University) in 1954 with a B.S. in pharmacy. Todd went on to serve his country in the army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. While in the service on vacation to Denmark, Todd met his future wife, Birgit. The two were wed in Copenhagen in 1957. After their marriage, they lived in Rapid City, S.D., where Todd was a pharmacist at Mill's Drugstore for two years. Their daughter, Mia, was born in 1959 when Todd began his 32-year career with Eli Lilly & Company. In 1962, their son Sean was born. Throughout his career, his family moved numerous times and, after retirement, Todd and Birgit settled in Prescott, Ariz., in 1994. Throughout his life, Todd enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and the great outdoors. When they retired, he was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling with Birgit. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 53 years, Birgit Martin. He is also survived by his two children and their spouses, Mia Martin Ricci and Scott Ricci of Henderson, Nev., and Sean Eugene Martin and Daisy Rain Martin of Nampa, Idaho. Todd is also survived by his three grandchildren, Justin Todd Ricci, Morgan Paula Ricci and Geoffrey Scott Siler; as well as his brother, Jeff Martin of Oklahoma. During his final months, Star and Bill Trader of Shiloh Adult Home took such loving care of Todd, and we, the family, want to thank them. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott, Ariz. The family will have a private ceremony with full military honors at the Prescott National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Todd's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Arizona Region, 225 Grove Ave., Suite B, Prescott, AZ 86301.
