Charles “Chuck” Teetsel Jr. passed away Oct. 20 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born March 20, 1928 in Memphis, Tenn., and in 1945 moved to Phoenix with his mother and father, Louise and Chuck Sr., and younger brother Bob. Chuck attended North High School and after graduating in 1946, completed one year at Phoenix College. He then served three years in the Army Air Corps stationed in Germany. Upon returning from the Army, Chuck continued his education in business administration at Arizona State University.
In the earlier years, he worked for General Electric and the State of Arizona, retiring in 1990. In 2001 he moved out of the big city to the quaint little town of Wickenburg with the love of his life, Mary.
Chuck loved sharing with friends and family his passion for cooking, travel, a good joke, Sun Devil football, and rounds of golf. He had a contagious laugh, a love of life, and a heart that was filled with generosity and kindness. He was a true handyman and was always there to lend a helping hand. Chuck was actively involved as a member of the Elks and served as the Exalted Ruler from 1993-94. He loved his church and was often found ushering a Sunday service and serving on the vestry.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Mary; sons Chuck (Sharon) and Fritz (Keri); stepdaughter Cherie (Matt Kujawa) and stepson Tony Pecora; brother Bob Teetsel; grandchildren Chip, Kelly, and Kendra Teetsel, Daniel and Matthew Teetsel and Layla Kujawa, as well as his extended family and friends, including fellow BPOE Elks, parishioners of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, and friends at Wickenburg Country Club.
A memorial service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church 357 West Yavapai Street, Wickenburg, AZ 85390 or the local Humane Society.
