Opal F. Simpson, 83, passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. Opal was born in Knox County, Texas, on Nov. 24, 1926.
Opal moved from Texas to Arizona in the late 1940’s. Opal married James Hanson and they had one daughter, Margaret, on July 15, 1947.
Opal attended beauty school in Phoenix, Ariz. She then moved to Holbrook, Ariz., where she married Byard J. “B.J.” Rutherford and she owned and operated Opal’s Beauty Salon. She then moved Globe in 1975, and owned and operated Opal’s Beauty Time. She married Lendon Simpson in 1989.
Opal will be remembered for taking care of and feeding everyone in the neighborhood. She will be truly missed.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Bertha Followill; her sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Buster Standiford; her brothers, Kenneth and Clyde; her daughter, Margaret (Wisner) Thompson; and James Hanson, Byard J. Rutherford and Lendon Simpson.
Services were held at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Miami, Ariz. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010,
A graveside service was held on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at the Joseph City Cemetery in Joseph City, Ariz., located at I-40 EXIT 277 and the Cholla Lake Road.
Funeral arrangements for Opal F. Simpson were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe.
