Lamont Mortuary of Globe,
Globe, AZ ~ 10/27/10
Sylvan "Ike" Ridenhour, age 80, born Dec. 16, 1926 in Burlington, WA to Charles and Gertrude Ridenhour, passed away Oct. 23, 2010.
He was affectionately known as "The Mayor of Ice House Canyon" mostly because he would sit on the porch and wave to all passer-by, talk with anyone who might stop in and the coffee was always hot. He served his country proudly in the US Marines during the Korean War and was one of the heralded "Chosen Few". He was a highly decorated officer and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He married Catherine Ridenhour of Globe in August of 1955 and within several years made their home in Globe. He retired from Inspiration Copper Co. in 1985 where he had worked as a repair mechanic in the mill.
Their only son Landy Ridenhour was born in June 1956 and was a graduate of Globe High School in 1974. Ike would like to be remembered as a husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, neighbor, friend and a damn fine Marine.
Ike is survived by his wife Catherine Ridenhour, his son Landy Ridenhour, his sister Donna Gerdes and his grandchildren Lenny, Kaycee, Zachary, Brendan and Veyda.
All services will be held privately.
