Alejandro Lorenzo (“Larry”/ “Alex”) Ruiz, 33, passed away in Oro Valley Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.
Mr. Ruiz attended the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind (K-12) in Tucson. As a student, he entered wrestling and was an avid fan of this sport.
Larry loved music, having far reaching knowledge of modern guitar and various modes. A collector of model cars, he was fully acquainted with the various types, speeds, and all details of “hot wheels,” etc. Any model car, by placing it in Mr. Ruiz's hands, could be identified, with a verbal rendition of its characteristics.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Ruiz Villegas, and his stepfather, Oton J. Villegas of Dudleyville; one sister, Maria (Oliver) Johnson, of Oro Valley; two stepsisters, Mary Frances (Steve) Daniels and Rachel Villegas, who reside in California; a stepbrother, Oton Wince (Anna) Villegas of Holbrook; grandmother Catalina L. Ruiz of Hayden; grandparents Oton A. (Mary) Villegas of Dudleyville; six nephews; three nieces; 52 cousins; aunts and uncles, Frances Lopez Ruiz of Stanfield, Joe (Carrie) Ruiz of Utah, Julia (Jose) Ruiz of Stanfield, Timoteo (Pat) Ruiz of Tucson, Marta (Barry) Pospisil of Florida, Andrea (Jim) Soder of Colorado; step aunts and step uncles, Lila (Carlos) Garcia, Marylou (Phillip) Verdugo, and Art (Pat) Villegas.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Griffith Mortuary on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Kearny. The memorial is set for noon.
