Holy Rosary for Ambrose Moncayo will be recited Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 9:30 AM, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Madre De Dios Catholic Church. Celebrant, Father Frank Chacon, interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery.
Ambro B. Moncayo, passed away peacefully at the home of his best friend Jim & wife Annabelle Rosier in Golden Valley, AZ on September 4, 2010. Ambro was 89 and would have celebrated his 90th birthday on Sept. 18th. Born in Puerto Luna, New Mexico, his parents Candelaria (Blea) and Filberto Moncayo came to Winslow in 1928, where Ambro started in the Winslow school system. He had to quit school in the 6th grade during the depression to help support his family.
In 1942 he joined the Army during WWII and served in the South Pacific. When he returned to Winslow, he would worked for Douglas Market, Central Drug, Ace Moulding, Safeway and the US Postal Service where he retired in 1990. Abmro never married and had no children. He was a loving song, brother and Uncle and devoted to the care of his pets.
Survived by brothers, Gregory Moncayo, Henry Moncayo, Joe Moncayo, sisters, Victoria Rubi and Ester Smith. Many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gilbert (Fito) Moncayo, Frank Moncayo. His sisters Betty Olague, Molly M. Guevara.
