MITCHELL,
James Dale
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ December 12, 2008
James Dale Mitchell, 36, went to rest with no more pain Dec. 7, 2008. Jim had pneumonia last January and continued to work in snowstorms and the cold. A virus attacked his heart and slowly killed him. Jim spent the year in lots of pain and struggled for each breath.
He was born Feb. 4, 1972, to the late Glenn Dale Mitchell and Ladon Warner.
Jim worked for the Holbrook Police Department for nine years and the Snowflake Police Department for eight years before that. He was currently working as the Holbrook school resource officer. He had a love and concern for his fellow man and his family. Jim also had a love for baseball and hunting.
He is survived by one son, Sheldon; ex-wife Julia Mitchell; good friend Carmon, who loved him and stayed close to him, taking very good care of him; mother Ladon; brothers Allen and Scott (Carrie) Ross, sisters Glenda (Emerson), Tonia (Lito) and Loretta (Ricky); nephews Ty McBride, Victor Tamayo and Trey and Tanner Ross; nieces Makayla McBride, Desirae and Shianne Tamayo, Shelby Mitchell, Sasha and Sicily Baca.
His family wishes to acknowledge the City of Holbrook and their employees, all the prayers, all those that stopped by for him and for all the time that was donated to Jim while he fought this. Remember: "Life is short, take care of it."
He will be remembered by family, fellow officers, students and friends at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Holbrook Stake Center.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
