LELANO, Herbert Milton

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ December 16, 2008 Herbert Milton DeLano died Nov. 25, 2008, in Payson. He was born April 13, 1929, in Wright County, Iowa, to Alfred and June DeLano. He married Betty K. Selgelid in 1948. They raised five children in Iowa before moving to Arizona in 1975. Herbert and Betty moved to Whiteriver in 1979 and were employed at IHS Hospital. After retirement they became foster parents for Apache Social Services. Herbert is survived by Carlotta (Allen) Litten, Kathleen (Mike) Metcalf, JoAnn (Edward) Young and Perley DeLano; foster children Rocky Truax, Eliza Goseyun and B.J. Burnette. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife Betty of 54 years, youngest son Herbert Jr., eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two foster grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Whiteriver Lutheran Church, 18 W. Oak. For more information, call (928) 338-4200.
