BURKHARD, Josephine (Josey) MarieAnn

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ December 16, 2008 Josephine "Josey" Burkhard, 6, died in Phoenix Nov. 30, 2008. She was born April 28, 2002, in Kokomo, Ind., to Penny Burkhard. Josey attended Round Valley Primary School. She loved hearts and butterflies, wearing mom's makeup and cheese crisps, "Pretty in Pink," ribbons and bows, little girl tea parties, playing tippy-toes, dressing up fancy, hair in a curl, playing a princess and just being a girl. She is survived by her mother, Penny Burkhard; father Brandon VanderWilt; sisters Kendal Burkhard and Nevaeh Harder; brother Brenden VanderWilt; grandparents Louwanna and Robert Wilson and Phil and Judy Burkhard; aunts and uncles Chrissy and Jeremy Roberts, Jennifer and Ryan Jones, Bobby and Dawn Wilson, Phillip and Sarah Burkhard and Reese and David VanderWilt; and her best friend Starla. A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Springerville. An account in Josey's memory has been set up at the National Bank in Springerville. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar assisted the family.
