Joyce Taylor died Sunday, Dec. 21,2008, in Mesa. She was born April 15, 1918, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Clinton and Ella (Tracy) Prentice.
Joyce and Marshall (deceased in 2006) moved from Rockford to Scottsdale, with their four children in 1957. They helped Pastor Roger Henderson organize Arizona's very first Evangelical Free Church in Tempe in 1957 and were longtime members of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Mesa.
Joyce worked as a cook for Scottsdale School District for many years. They lived in Scottsdale for 45 years until moving to Springdale Village Retirement Center in Mesa in 2002.
She left behind four children, Steve (JoAnn) Taylor of Show Low, Sylvia (Don) Stout of Phoenix, Sue (John) Ellis of Tempe and Sally (David) Ascenzo of Bethany, Ill. She also had eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 14, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 8701 E. Brown Road, in Mesa.
