ALLRED, Douglas Michael

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 1, 2009 Douglas Michael Allred, 46, died the morning of Dec. 24, 2008, at his Mesa home. Doug was born Nov. 29, 1962, in Westminster, Calif. As a father he shared his boys' interests in everything from science projects to Phoenix Suns basketball games to the latest rock concerts. He believed strongly in their education and made many sacrifices to encourage it, having received a master's in business himself. The last two winters, he organized and played on a city league basketball team consisting of any Allred family member he could round up. Three-year-old Maddie was truly "Daddy's little girl." Daily "tickle fights" were dear to both their hearts and will be greatly missed. Doug lived for his family and will always be remembered by them as a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He lived his life to the fullest putting his heart into each of our individual situations, offering encouragement and concerning himself with whatever he could do for each family member from the oldest to the youngest. Doug held close to his heart the memories and associations of his youth growing up in Round Valley, playing basketball and baseball, participating in scouting events and many outdoor activities. Doug's enthusiasm for life and contagious laugh will be missed by so many. He is survived by his wife, Caroline Allred; two sons, Joshua Michael and Justin Farrell; daughter Madelyn Grace; mother Mary Allred-Kroening; sister Velda Wiltbank; brother Wade Allred; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Farrell Damar Allred; brothers Charles Alan and Donald Damar; and son Zachary Damar Allred. A viewing was held at Bunker Family Mortuary in Mesa Wednesday, Dec. 31. Graveside services will be held at the Thatcher Cemetery Monday, Jan. 5, followed by a luncheon for family and friends at the LDS in Thatcher.
