Fred W. Lane passed away Oct. 31, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 95. He was born July 20, 1915, to Fred and Beatrice (Downs) Lane in Rochester, N.Y.
Fred started working in the lumber business as a teenager. He went on to make it his career and became president and CEO of Greece Lumber Co. in Rochester, N.Y. He held this position until his retirement in 1974. He was a graduate of Forestry School in Syracuse, N.Y. Fred was active in Rotary and the Lumberman’s Association. He enjoyed playing golf with his wife Helen. Fred was a very devoted family man and they loved doing things together. He was known to be a great and very helpful neighbor.
Fred leaves behind his beloved son, Paul Lane and his wife Sue; daughters, Marilyn Lane, Judy Le Grett and her husband Michael and Beverly Hatfield and her husband Rick; grandchildren Gerry Lane and Jessica Manchester and her husband Dan and Gerry Lane; great-grandchildren, Jakob and Alexander Manchester.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Helen. When together, they were inseparable. He was also preceded by his two sisters, Gladys Lane, who passed at the age of 5 and Beatrice Milligan.
Funeral services for Fred will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David Bybee will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Interment will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s name to the Salvation Army, 2049 Swanson Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
