Monica Josephine Vergote, 74, passed away Oct, 27 at her home in Lake Havasu City. She was born Jan. 24, 1936, in Mandan, N.D., to Lucas and Mary (Fleck) Berger.
Monica and her husband, Ray, married Jan. 28, 1952, in Idaho and shared 56 years together before he passed April 23, 2008. Monica lived in Lake Havasu City for more than 21 years, coming from California, where she lived for 32 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and friend, who loved everyone she knew and cared for. Monica will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Monica is survived by her daughters, Judy (Alvin) Miller, and Patty Vergote; grandchildren, Teliza (Mike) Washington; Jeff (Jane) Miller, and Jeremy Pyles; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Ray Vergote; father, Lucas Berger, mother, Mary Berger; and stepmother, Veronica Berger.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Quality Inn, 271 S. Lake Havasu Ave. A gathering will follow at the Golden Coral Restaurant for family and friends. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents in North Dakota.
