Virginia Nelson Bahe of Sanders died Oct. 31, 2010, in Phoenix.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1922, into the Tabaaha (Edgewater clan) for Tl'aashchi'i (Red Botton Clan). Her maternal grandparent is of the Natoh' Dine'e' Tachini (Tobacco Clan) and her paternal grandparent is of the Toh'tsoni (Big Water Clan). She will be greatly missed by her family, relatives, friends and those who had the honor of knowing her.
Mrs. Bahe is survived by her sons, Danny Yazzie Sr. of Sanders, Geno Bahe of Nazlini, Bennie Bahe of Sanders, Benson Bahe of Phoenix, Bently Bahe of Sanders and Raymond Bahe of Kingman; daughters Verda Joe of Phoenix, Verna Johns of Tolani Lake and Bernice Chee of Tulsa, Okla.; sister Glenna Thompson of Sanders; brothers Harry Ben Nelson of Sanders and Charles Nelson of Beclabito; 59 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Bahe; mother Mary Thompson; and five children.
A funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Warren Ave., in Winslow. Pastor Roy Begay and Pastor Artie Aragon of Chinle Christian Center will be officiating. Burial will be at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
