MORRISSEY, Regina

(Maiden Name: Sablovskis)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, November 05, 2010 Regina Morrissey passed away peacefully the morning of Oct. 25, 2010, after a long battle of diabetic complications. Regina was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on Aug. 2, 1951, to Joseph and Anna Sablovskis. The family immigrated to America when Regina was six. Regina's first memory of the United States was of the "big beautiful lady" that greeted them as they entered the New York Harbor going to Ellis Island. Regina was diagnosed with diabetes in her early teens as the result of car accident. At that time, not much was known about treating diabetes. In May 1970, Regina and Tom were married and recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The final years of Regina's life proved to be difficult, but Tom never waved off the responsibility of caring for Regina as her primary caregiver. Tom took pride in learning how to care for Regina. She would often comment how she would never be able to live without Tom and that she loved him for always taking such good care of her. At times, it was rocky, but Regina and Tom were a testament to the meaning of marriage. Regina is preceded in death by her son Thomas Jr., her parents and her sister Donna. Regina is survived by her loving husband and companion Tom; her daughter Bridget Morrissey (Christopher); her granddaughter Donna Morrissey; her brothers, Julius (Gina) and Joe (Maureen) Shore; her sisters, Agnes (John) Furmanski and Elena Sabon; her daughter AnnMarie Ashby and her sons, Joseph and Nicolas Campbell. At the request of Regina, no services will be held. Please remember Regina in a way that is befitting to you. She is now safe, happy, whole and at peace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel Funeral Homes assisted with the arrangements. Information provided by survivors.
