Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Saturday, November 6, 2010 Anna Marie Azzato passed away Oct. 30, 2010, in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 96. She was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Bari, Italy, to Pasquale and Madeline Desimini. At the age of 6, Anna and her family came to the United States. Her family lived in New York where her father worked as a tailor. In 1950, Anna married Joseph Raia. Together they had a son Frank Raia and were happily married until his passing in 1977. In 1981, Anna married Joseph Azzato, a co-worker she met at Vernitron in Bay Shore, N.Y., where she worked as a parts inspector. They were married until he passed away in 1999. In 2004, Anna moved to Lake Havasu City to be near her son. Frank. Among her many hobbies were craftwork, primarily knitting and crocheting doilies. Anna is survived by her son, Frank Raia and his wife, Diane, and grandchildren Grace Hopkins of Oklahoma, Daniel Raia, of Japan, and Anne Marie Raia-Pierce, of Oklahoma. Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest with her second husband at the Long Island National Veterans Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.
