Harold Wilbert Goertz Jr., 77, died Nov. 16, 2008, with his loving wife and daughter by his side at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. Harold was born Aug. 26, 1931, in a small farmhouse in Littlefield, Texas, to the late Harold and Minnie (Luke) Goertz.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. In his early years Harold worked for the Long Beach Douglas Boeing Aircraft division before becoming a Los Angeles County firefighter, from which he retired.
During his retirement, Harold found "a little piece of God's heaven on earth" here in the White Mountains. He knew immediately this would be his retirement town.
Harold had a very good sense of humor and touched many lives. He will be missed by all those that had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Nell of Lakeside; daughter Cindy (Tracy) Truman of Cypress, Calif.; granddaughter Kaitie Truman also of Cypress, Calif.; sisters Wanda Ingram of Lakewood, Calif., and Audrey (Dean) Sather of Shady Cove, Ore., as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elna in 1998.
Private services are planned.
