Velton Stanford Kimbrough died peacefully Friday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2008, at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside with his wife of 61 years at his side.
Velton was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Prescott, Ark., to the late Herman Alexander and Hazel (Sneed) Kimbrough. The WWII veteran moved to Arizona from New Mexico in 1976 and retired as a masonry machine operator.
Velton is survived by his wife, Esther Louise nee Greene of Lakeside; three sons, Ronald (Jeanette) Kimbrough of Diamond Bar, Calif., Robert (Mary) Kimbrough of Show Low and Tommy (Jeanette) Kimbrough of Globe; sister Gene (Edmond) Sutton of Hisperia, Calif.; six grandchildren, Christy (Danny) Ray, Lori Roarke, Keith Kimbrough, Clayton Kimbrough, Tyler Kimbrough and Aaron Kimbrough; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Ramsey.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
