ISAACSON, Charles (Leonard)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ December 5, 2008 Charles "Leonard" Isaacson, 85, died Nov. 29, 2008, in St. Johns. He was born in St. Johns on March 2, 1923, to Archibald and Myrtle Whiting Isaacson. Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as the county agricultural agent for the University of Arizona and ran a small ranch. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. Leonard served as a bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a stake patriarch in St. Johns. He served a mission with his wife Armitta among the Navajo Indians. Leonard is survived by his wife, Armitta Marvine Holcomb; sons C. Norman Isaacson of Chandler, Leonard A. Isaacson of Rigby, Idaho, John R. Isaacson of St. Johns and William "Bill" Isaacson of Tempe; daughters Andrea Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sandra Beckstead of Salt Lake City, Utah, Deborah Barker of St. Johns and Terry Ogden of St. Johns; sister Fernith Saporiti of California; and 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, daughter Janet Lee Cowley and infant son Lee Roy Isaacson. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns.
