Irwin "Aly" Kahan
Aly Kahan, 79, passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2010, at the Northern Arizona VA Hospital in Prescott, Ariz.
Aly Kahan was born on March 16, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., to Jack Kahan and Ada Molinsky. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Monmouth, N.J. On active duty, he raised homing pigeons used to deliver messages between troops during battle.
After service to his country, Aly moved to Buffalo, N.Y., where he met his future wife, Joan Factor. They were married May 14, 1955, for 35 years.
Aly was a loving father and provider. He owned Super Seal Enterprises performing electrostatic coating, and he expanded the business from New York to Ohio, Toronto and Montreal.
Aly went on to purchase a dual used car dealership and auto body shop, and remained in the car business until he retired. Aly's love for animals, especially horses, led to his ownership of a thoroughbred farm in Royalton, N.Y.
In 2005, Aly became a resident of Chino Valley, Ariz., to be by his son's side as Michael became owner of Chino Valley Animal Hospital. As a devoted father with a love for animals, he will be remembered in Chino Valley for his desire to assist in the lobby by giving out treats to the pets and conversing with clients.
Aly was a man with a sense of humor who was loved by all and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan Factor; his son, Michael; one brother, Joseph; one sister, Helen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends and acquaintances will be welcomed at Chino Valley Funeral Home, 480 W. Palomino, Chino Valley, Ariz. on Nov. 23, 2010, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m.
