MCCRAY, Jean Olive

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 30, 2008 Jean Olive (Marble) McCray died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, surrounded by her children. Jean was born in Rising Sun, Ind,. Jan. 20, 1928, to John W. and Ava Marie Marble. Jean is the oldest of five children. She moved to Tucson at age 17 and married D. Lee McCray when she was 18 years old. They had been residents of Snowflake since 1951. Jean worked as a volunteer tour guide at the Freeman Pioneer Home. She also served as a temple worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in both Mesa and Snowflake for many years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, D. Lee McCray, and two brothers, John and Charles Marble. Survivors include her sister, Shirley Shumaker; brother Wilfred Marble; sisters-in-law Betty and Eloise Marble; children Carol (Ralph) Haddock, Shirlee (Kelly) Willis, Lynnette (Andy) Barlow, Lee McCray, Marcia (Brent) Starr and Kellee (Casey) Wood; 36 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Snowflake Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9th. S. 2nd West, with a visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake handled arrangements.
