Reading (PA) Eagle Monday, November 15, 2010 Glenn E. Bowers, 87, Elverson, died Friday, Nov 12, 2010, in the HRC ManorCare Nursing Facility. He is survived by his wife, Fern (Miller) Bowers. Glenn was born Dec 26, 1922, in McKeesport, Pa., a son of the late James and Nola (Price) Bowers. He served in the Army during World War II, from October 1942 to November 1945. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands for two years. Glenn vested his pension at US Steel Clairton in 1973, after 23 years of service, and then retired from Lukens Steel in Coatesville in 1986. He lived in Eustis, Fla., for 18 years, and Wickenburg, Ariz., for six years before returning to Pennsylvania to live with his daughter, Nola Wagner, widow of Robert Wagner Sr, Eleverson, in April of this year. Glenn belonged to the South Hills Lodge 761 A&AM, Valley of Reading AASR, and the American Legion in Wickenburg. He is also survived by a daughter, Darlene, wife of Robert Kohler, Naples, Fla; a son, Charles, husband of Rose Bowers, Wickenburg; four grandchildren: Troy Lepore, Rob Kohler, Wendy and Steve Bowers; four step grandchildren: Kim Lang, Lisa Harden, Beth Yoder and Robert Wagner Jr; and 17 great-grandchildren. Glenn was predeceased by his two brothers, J Clifford Bowers and Allan Bowers. Glenn's motto was: Work is the lens that brings life into focus and love is the brush that brings color to the scene.
