WELBORN, Robert (Bob) Kenneth, Sr.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, November 16, 2010 Robert "Bob" Kenneth Welborn Sr., 90, was gathered to the Lord on Nov. 15, 2010, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was born in Seneca, Kan. on April 20, 1920, to James E. and Audrey B. Welborn. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy M. Welborn. Survivors also include his children, Judith A. Stansbury of Pagosa Springs, Colo. and Robert K. Welborn Jr. of Dewey, Ariz.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his sister, Beverly Kaghan of Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Jack Welborn. Bob served in the Pacific theater as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines during WWII. In 1980, Bob and his wife retired to Prescott Country Club in Dewey, Ariz., after a 31-years distinguished career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., as Manager, Special Service Engineering. Bob's professional integrity earned him respect with everyone he met and worked with. He was an active member in the El Zaribah Shriners for 33 years. His passion for golf, gardening, hunting, ham radio and auto mechanics not only fulfilled his pastimes but often provided him fellowship that endeared him to so many. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Faith United Community Church, 1061 N. Old Chisholm Trail, Dewey, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to Granite Mountain Home Care and Hospice, 3107 Clearwater Drive, Prescott, AZ 86305.
