Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Wednesday, November 17, 2010 Idella L. George, 95, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. Mrs. George was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Kykotsmovi, to Herbert and Bessie (Kewanyounim) Saknumptewa. Her maternal clan is the Fire Clan; her paternal clan is the Water Clan. Mrs. George was a Hopi wicker plaque maker, a seamstress and homemaker. She loved working in the field and planting native food. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Steely, Antoinette George, Myra Dee, Alice Ringlero and Sun Beam Cuch; sons Melvin George Sr. and Sankey George Jr.; 36 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sankey George Sr.; her parents, Herbert and Bessie; sons Lewis N. George and Stanley Lomayesva; sisters Cora Mockta and Matilda Lomavuya; and brothers Homer Homewytewa, Hector Saknumptewa, Lorenzo Yoyokie and Lee S. Tomas. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Kykotsmovi Mennonite Church, in Kykotsmovi. Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@Lozanos- FlagstaffMortuary.com.
