Callie Lynn Wheeler went to be with the Lord and was placed in His hands Saturday, feb. 27, 1987, at the age of 21. Callie was born Feb. 27, 1987, to Kim and Linda (Waye) Wheeler in Denver, Colo., at St. Josephs Hospital. In August of 1989, Kim, Linda, Callie and her big sister Brianna moved to Lake Havasu City.
As Callie grew older she loved playing baseball, starting out playing tee ball. At the age of 10, Callie became a member of the Scorchers, Havasu’s tournament team for girls’ softball, where she was best known for her presence on the mound. Upon entering high school, she became a member of the Lady Knights playing two years of junior varsity softball. Callie then moved to Las Vegas to live with Brianna and was captain of the Bishop Gorman High School softball team for her final two years of high school.
Callie attended her freshman year of college at the University of Nevada-Reno and then transferred to Tucson. She never could stay too far from Brianna, so she returned to Las Vegas to continue her schooling and live with her sister.
Callie loved people and wanted to help everyone. Callie’s smile melted hearts all around her.
Callie is survived by her parents, Kim and Linda Wheeler, of Lake Havasu City; her sister and best friend, Brianna, of Las Vegas; her boyfriend, Michael Steinkohl; grandmother, Roxana Santorno, of Denver. Colo.; grandfather, Bud Wheeler, of Nebraska; three aunts, six uncles, 11 cousins, as well as the many friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her Grandma and Grandpa Waye.
A celebration of Callie’s life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., at Lake Havasu Baptist Church. Pastor Byron Harrison will be offering words of comfort and reassurance.
