Doyle Fletcher Coffman, 79, of Tonto Basin and formerly of Show Low, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at RTA Hospice in Payson. He was born Feb. 1, 1929, at Tipton, Okla., the son of Raymond and Nellie Ann (Blackburn) Coffman.
His family moved to Portales, N.M., while he was quite young. He grew up and attended school in Portales, where he married the former Juanita Longley on May 14, 1950.
The couple lived in Portales until moving to Farmington in 1958. They returned to Portales in 1961 and came to Show Low in 1963. They went to Idaho in 1984 where they remained for 18 years before returning to Show Low. They moved to Tonto Basin in 2004.
He was the Bowes Seal Fast distributor for Northeastern Arizona, where he was known as "The Bowes Man" from 1963 until 1984. He tried retirement and when he grew bored, he got into advertising specialty sales which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He liked drinking coffee, talking to people and hauling firewood. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Juanita; daughter Jenny and (David) Davis of Hawkinsville, Ga.; son Doyle Jr. (Juandell) of Tempe; sisters-in-law Linnie Coffman of Clovis, N.M., Dorothy Sutton of Roswell, N.M,, Etta Brook of Portales, N.M., and Waunell Longley of Roswell, N.M.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Amanda Sue Coffman; sister Edith Corley; and three brothers, Glenn, Leslie and Harold Coffman.
Viewing and visitation were held at Black's Mortuary Thursday, Nov. 6. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Black's Mortuary. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
