Filomeno (Phil) Baca entered into heaven with his entire family at his side Nov. 5, 2008. He was born March 2, 1928, and grew up in McNary. He was a Korean Conflict Army veteran and after his honorable discharge worked in the lumber industry until his retirement.
Filo and his family moved to Prineville, Ore., in 1973 where they raised eight children. He loved snowmobiling in the Ochoco Mountains, dancing and spending time with his growing family. He was an Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prineville before moving to Redmond in 2000. Filo was also a member of the American Legion.
Filo was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice, nine siblings and his oldest son, Isidro.
He is survived by brother Robert; his wife of 57 years Inez; children, Anita, Philip, Dodie, Michael, Laurence, David and Evelyn, 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Rosary vigil will be held Friday, Nov. 7, followed by funeral mass Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Thomas Catholic Parish, 1720 NW 19th Street, Redmond, Ore.
