McLellan (Colson) passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2010, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born March 23, 1953. She is survived by her husband Dan McLellan of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; son Aaron Czubak of Modesto, Calif.; daughter Caitlyn Maczuga of Michigan; brothers John W. Colson (Tina), James H. Colson (Ginger) of Glendale, Ariz., Brent J Colson of Dearborn, Mich., and Dr. Michael A Colson (Jane) of Kamuela, Hawaii; and sister Suzanne May (Colson) of NSW Australia. She was preceded in death by her son, Jordon Czubak; her brothers, Douglas J. Colson and David Bruce Colson; mother Donna J. Shoop (Colson); and father James W. Colson. Donita's humor and sharp wit, love of freedom, and knowledge of her family and its history cannot be replaced. Though born and raised in Michigan, she was a longtime resident of Prescott and worked in health and hospice care. In caring for others and herself, when faced with health challenges, she employed the unique ability to live in the moment, find time for joy and share her ebullient nature with others. She was a supporter of veteran organizations, mostly as a tribute to her sons, both U.S. Marines and Iraqi Freedom veterans. The indomitable spirit that Donita employed in her daily life, coupled with her good heart and thirst for living, makes grieving her passing easier, especially as the end came peacefully. A memorial service will be conducted by Archbishop Peter Robinson at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 600 W. Hillside Ave. in Prescott. She will be laid to rest near her son, Jordan, at Prescott National Cemetery. Cremation Society of Arizona is comforting the family. Information provided by survivors.
