MCLAUGHLIN, Kenneth George

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ September 22, 2008 Kenneth George McLaughlin, 79, entered eternal rest Sept. 16, 2008, in Lakeside. Kenneth was born June 9, 1929, in Sibley, Iowa. On July 11, 1947, Kenneth married the love of his life, Darlene Joy Benson, in Rock Island, Ill. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Gold Club here in the White Mountains. Kenneth could not sit still for anything and after retiring from the construction industry, he began sharpening knives and tools, free of charge, for local churches, senior centers and charities. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Darlene McLaughlin of Lakeside; daughter Rebecca "Becky" Lutz of Show Low; grandchildren Jennie (Eric) Peterson, Bill (Shawn) McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, Edward (Jody) Corona, Mary McLaughlin, Raynette Cox and Kenny Cox; and great-grandchildren Elora, Jessica, Taylor, Austin, James and Sessalina. He was preceded in death by daughter Emma-LeAnn in 1978. Private services are planned. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
