Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Monday, November 22, 2010 Sandra Kay “Sandy” McHaley, 56, of Lake Havasu City, passed away in the presence of family and friends Nov. 13, 2010, after a short illness. Sandy was born Dec. 8, 1953, in Salina, Kan., to Allie “Al” and Irene Weigand. She grew up in Winfield, Kan., and graduated from Winfield High School in 1971. She moved to Lake Havasu City in June of 2000. She and Jack McHaley were united in marriage June 4, 1983, in Wichita, Kan. Sandy and Jack owned and operated bowling centers in Kansas. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed working with youth bowlers. She was a great bowler with a high average of 188. She was inducted into the Erie Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2003-2004. She was honored by the WIBC for her accomplishments. Besides bowling, Sandy enjoyed fishing and camping (when she could), making afghans for family and friends, was a voracious reader, and loved playing online video games in her spare time. In addition to her husband, Jack McHaley, of Lake Havasu City, Sandy is survived by her three daughters, Tonya Fletcher and husband, Barry, of Midlothian, Texas, and grandson, Dylan Fletcher; daughter, Christie England and husband, Paul, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and granddaughter, Cheyenne England; daughter, Toni McHaley and numerous grandchildren; her brothers, Bruce Sinks and wife, Fe, of Lynden, Wash.; Lewis Weigand and wife, Gay, of Omaha, Neb.; Jimmy Weigand and wife, Jan, of Parkview, Mo., Robert Sinks, of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Kathryn Martin, of Pahrump, Nev.; sister-in-law, Diane Weigand, of Winfield, Kan.; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; best friend, Jackie Middleton and husband, Paul, and family, of Lake Havasu City; and of course, her beloved dog, Rusty, who misses her very much. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Leta Weigand (stepmother) and Irene Haywood (mother); brother, Larry Weigand; mother-in-law, Anita McHaley; and her aunt, Esther Fye. A celebration of Sandy’s life is to be scheduled in the spring of 2011. Being an avid animal lover, Sandy would like any remembrances be made in donation to Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404 and Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. Sandy, in her last act of generosity, donated her body for research and education to The International Institute for the Advancement of Medicine. Sandra Kay McHaley will be dearly missed by her husband, family and friends. “When we can’t see God’s hands, we can trust his heart.”
