Beth McIntire
Sep. 20, 1917 – March 11, 2008
Beth was born, the oldest of two children, in the small town of Gilford, Mont., in the home that her father built. Beth and her brother grew up there and Beth left at the age of nineteen to come to the area of Los Angeles, Calif.
Beth worked as a maid and nanny for a short while and went on to Business College for two years. She then went to work for a drug store call Sontag’s which later changed to Rexall Drugs about 1945. She then went to work for Dart Industries as a bookkeeper doing payroll. She worked there for 33 years and retired in 1978.
During her working years she married, had one daughter and later she divorced. She met Charles McIntire in 1958 and they married Oct. 1, 1960. He had three daughters. They bought property in Meadow Valley, which they retired to in 1978. They had also bought a lot here in Lake Havasu City in 1964. They had a house built in 1980 and moved here in 1985.
Charles passed away in May 1988. Beth stayed here volunteering for the Kiwanis Club and at the Senior Center. She helped chart the Meals on Wheels Wednesday through Friday for 13 years.
She was very involved with St. Michael’s Church and women’s club. She also bowled for quite a few years and walked everyday three to five miles, weather permitting. In the last 20 years she had also taken a few ship cruises. Beth was loved by everyone, even the people she met on the cruises. They kept in contact with each other all of the time.
Her daughter and son-in-law came to Lake Havasu City three years ago to help and live with her. Beth had been a resident of Lake Hills Inn for the last year due to her illness.
Beth is survived by her beloved family; daughter, Vee Ann Hamlet, of Lake Havasu City; step daughters, Rose Marie Heater, of Quincy, Calif., Sharon Lee Manning, of Calhan, Colo., and Carol Dee McIntire, of Weatherford, Texas; one brother, Earl A. Nehring, of Lawrence, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at St. Michael’s United Methodist Church. Words of comfort and inspiration will be presented by Pastor Lyndon Mason
Donations may be made in Beth’s name to a charity of choice.
