Sheryl Collins was born to Frances and James Dawson on October l9 1946, in Lynwood Calif. The family later moved to West Covina, where Sheryl graduated from Edgewood High School in 1964 before moving to La Habra with her family. This is where she met Ray Collins, the love of her life. They were married on April 15, 1961 and had a son, Mike, in May 1968. In 1980, Sheryl and her family moved to Havasu after many weekends of visiting the area throughout the 70's. She and Ray opened Any Radiator Service in 1982.
Sheryl was an amazing cook and a multiple award-winning baker. She was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes and her specialty cheesecakes. She taught cake decorating classes at MCC for 12 years and loved every minute of it.
She later became the personal assistant to Father Rudy and then Father Michael at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and prepared many banquets as well as Thanksgiving dinners at the parish hall.
Sheryl had many interests and hobbies. She was a past Regent of the catholic daughters of America Court 2213; she enjoyed playing Bunco, camping, auto racing, sewing, and working with her stained glass and ceramics. She made the most beautiful nativity sets and hobbyhorses.
She leaves behind her loving son, Michael; granddaughter, Bethany; brother, Mike and his wife Vickie; brother, Jim and his wife Kay; and uncle, Jim and his wife Carol, all of Lake Havasu City. She had seven nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and her parents, Jim and Frances.
There will be a Rosary and Mass for Sheryl at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the parish hall afterward. All are welcome.
