LEWALLEN, SR., James Thomas


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, November 24, 2010 James Thomas Lewallen Sr., a resident of Wickenburg, passed away on Nov. 17. He was 67. He is survived by his wife Karol of 47 years, his son Jim Jr., (Denise), his son Chris, and six grandchildren, who brought him many hours of happiness. He is also survived by his sister Jeri Myers (Bob), brother John Lewallen (Anita), father-in-law Rex Prisbrey, and many extended family members and cherished friends. Jim was born in Long Beach, Calif., on March 3, 1943 to Joy Mieger Lewallen and James A. Lewallen. After growing up in the Phoenix area, he graduated from Scottsdale High School and joined the Marine Corp Reserves. He then began a wonderful 37-year career with Western Electric, which became AT&T, and later Lucent Technologies. Jim retired as an operations area manager. Jim thoroughly enjoyed his years of retirement. He was an active member of Los Caballeros Golf Club and enjoyed playing golf several days a week. He also became a member of the Arizona Artist Blacksmith Association and enjoyed his metal work. Jim was a brilliant artist and possessed a true gift with his hands ranging from woodworking to metal art and blacksmithing. He was a man firm in his convictions, a man of few words who led his family by example with hard work, love and a dry sense of humor. A celebration of Jim’s Life has been scheduled at Rancho de los Caballeros, Palo Verde Room. Call 684-5484 for information.
