AYERS, William (Bill) Leroy


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, November 24, 2010 Officer William “Bill” Leroy Ayers (Ret) was a long time resident of Arizona and Gila County, and worked a various range of professions but always returned to the one he really loved, Peace Officer. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and was a long time BPOE member. He was born in Las Cruces, N.M. to Ralph and Willie (Atwood) Ayers on April 20, 1940. He had one brother, Richard Gordon Ayers. These three, along with his wife Yvonne, awaited his arrival when he passed peacefully, at home, in Payson. Bill was a beloved husband and father, much respected in the community and by his brothers in blue. He was a motor officer in Globe until he moved to Payson in 1982 and served with the Payson Police Dept. until his retirement as a DUI enforcement officer. Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Yvonne, by a mere 30 days. He is survived by their children, Glen and Renee Morse of Winnemucca, Nev., Deborah Morse of Kennewick, Wash., Stan and Allison Morse of Gilbert, Ariz., Sherri Ayers of Globe, Ariz., David and Kandace Ayers of Cottonwood, Ariz., Michael and Cheryl Ayers of Chandler Ariz., Steve Ayers of Globe, Ariz., 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bill is dancing with Yvonne beyond the stars. Gone but never forgotten. Instead of services, per his request, a remembrance and celebration of his life will be held at 611 W. Colt Circle, in Payson, on Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
