DOWNING, James Haskell

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Saturday, March 8, 2008 James Haskell Downing went to join our Lord Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in Lake Havasu City with his family by his side. Jim was born June 7, 1927 in Hartshorne, Okla. His family moved to Southern California when he was a youngster. Jim moved to Lake Havasu City 18 years ago from Apple Valley, Calif. He owned and operated Downing Trucking in Victorville, Calif., for 15 years. Jim was a wise businessman and loved family man. He leaves behind his loving family; wife, Jean; daughter, Dortha Smith; sons, Jim Jr. and Dennis Downing; step-son, Steve Cheever; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Jim will be greatly missed. His absence leaves a huge hole in the lives of his loved ones and many friends. Jim will be remembered for his warm loving ways. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held March 15 at l:30 p.m., at Sunset Hills Mortuary Park, 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley, CA.
