Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, March 4, 2008 Denny Spicer passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2008, at home with his loving wife, Debbie, and his loving daughter, Chris, by his side after his long battle fighting esophageal cancer. Dennis, “Denny” as his friends knew him, was born Dec. 6, 1940, in Detroit, Mich. to Olin and Grace (Foy) Spicer. Denny and Debbie were married April 19, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nev., Denny and Debbie lived in Mission Viejo, Calif., for 15 years prior to moving to Lake Havasu City five years ago. Denny was known for his good nature and wonderful humor. Before retiring, he was self-employed and owned a furniture upholstery shop for over 30 years and a sign company in Laguna Niguel, Calif., for six years. After he retired in 2003, he enjoyed taking family and friends out on his pontoon boat. The Spicer’s looked forward to the family reunions in Lake Havasu City, some flying in from Ohio and others driving in from California. Both family and friends will always remember Thanksgiving at the Spicer’s home where Denny would share his delicious barbequed turkey with all. He was an expert at puttzing in his garage and enjoyed working on his jeep. Everything he set out to do, such as getting his pilot’s license, he did with enthusiasm. He also had a passion for football which he played in his freshman through junior years in high school. Being with his family and friends always gave him the most pleasure. He had more friends than anyone could ever meet in a lifetime. Denny will be deeply missed. He was one in a million, never to be forgotten. Denny is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Debbie; daughters, Chris Spicer, Susan Zimmerman; grandsons, Jason Spicer, Jeffrey Zimmerman; brothers, Dick (Debbie) Spicer, Kevin Spicer; and sisters, Carol Cavlovic and Kathy Spicer. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of life and homecoming will be held at the Spicer’s home Saturday at 1 p.m. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
